Serge Abouem, President of the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, reviews the tournament and discusses the prospects.
"First of all, I can't say that the 4th edition of the Camtel Beach volleyball clash is coming to a successful conclusion. Because Cameroon did not win the competition in either women's or men's competitions. But this setback can be justified. Cameroon is still in a learning phase in beach volleyball if we get back to Nigeria and the Central African Republic. I would just like to say that it was a beautiful celebration. We were able to have two teams from the Central Africa sub-region and one from West Africa. We saw that the level was relatively high. Now, we will continue to work at the Cameroon level. Because we are far behind the others. Hence the importance of this kind of event. We should be able to segment our territory as we did for six-a-side volleyball, where we are currently among the best in Africa. This is so that children can start playing beach volleyball permanently in all parts of the country. I am happy with the quality of the tournament. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, in particular Camtel, who supported us. We hope that next year the quality of the tournament will be even better. This is all the more so as the prize pool will increase from two to four million CFA francs. »
