Cameroon will have a lot to do on the international scene this year. This is confirmed by the distribution of teams by pool in preparation for the Intercontinental Qualification Tournament for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan carried out by the International Volleyball Federation (Fivb) on Monday, 7 January 2019 in Lausanne. As usual, the senior national teams of women and men will face the best teams in the discipline. Housed in Group D, the reigning African champions will face Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Azerbaijan respectively. The men, who won silver medals at the last CAN, will face Italy, Serbia and Australia in Group C of their category.
According to the information contained in the correspondence signed by the Director General of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), Fabio Azevedo and sent to the countries concerned, 23 women's teams except Japan (host country of the Olympic Games in 2020) and Cuba (25th in the FIVB ranking) have confirmed their participation. Poland, 26th in the world ranking, also joined the tournament in place of Cuba. For their part, the 24 best senior men's teams in the FIVB ranking confirmed their participation in this global event. It should be noted that the names of the host countries of the tournaments scheduled for August 2019 may be known by 31 January.
