The first day of the Western Regional Volleyball Championship kept all its promises last Sunday in Bafoussam. Thirteen teams divided into three categories (Old Stars, Seniors and Youth) were on the start line. Thus, out of the seven matches played, some of them performed well. The case of the Nzuimanto Training Centre is the most tangible. Engaged in the youth category, the team dominated all its opponents during the day. The girls easily got rid of Babadjou's MTC in two sets (25-17, 25-21), while the boys bent over to Baham's Fovu in three sets (20-25, 25-19, 15-3). This is something to delight one of the club's coaches: "The children put in their best and with style, they won their match. I can't wait for this year to be the one we shall win the title.

Like this performance, the other teams in the race have found strategies to stand out in an atmosphere conducive to play. To the great satisfaction of the Secretary General of the West Regional League, Landry Koguep Kebou. "On the first day of the regional championship, we attended a symbolic event launch ceremony. It was followed by the matches on the first day. Overall, I would say that we have achieved our objectives: the successful holding of this inaugural day and the mobilization of teams. »

Regarding the commitment of the clubs and the enthusiasm for the championship, the Secretary General said: "We had a total of 13 teams, including two Old Stars', five girls' teams, four boys' teams and two seniors' teams. The overall level of play was average. It will evolve gradually, especially with the arrival of new teams. These statistics show that the second day scheduled for February 24th will be more competitive.
